Hello humans, and welcome to Triple Threat Wellness.

The mission of this site is to provided resources and education about holistic wellness aimed towards late adolescents and young adults.

Now you may be thinking, what person in this age group even cares about their health?

That is exactly the problem.

Many in this age group, especially college students, are socially conditioned to not take care of themselves. Heavy substance use, improper nutrition, lack of spiritual development, and materialism are most prevalent during these years, which can lead to long lasting habits and damaged health.

I started this site because I was that college student. Addicted to substances, improperly treating myself, and suffering the consequences. I was always tired, mentally unstable, and unsure how to even start reversing my habits and values. My breaking point was when I had to distance myself from a whole group of friends; the only close friends I had known during my college experience. After being used, hurt, and then affectively thrown away by one of the group members, it showed that we were only connected through the unhealthy actions we did together. I realized that the only reason I was doing 'okay' was because I was being carried by a group that was also riddle with bad habits.

When everyone around you is doing something, it just seems like the right thing to do.

After this distance, I reevaluated what is important to me. And the biggest thing, that had already been a continually concern during my life, was my physical and mental health. I had been diagnosed with depression, anxiety, and PSTD after years of suffering, had chronic pain for years, and genuinely did not know how to treat my body in a nice way. Exercise and food was always seen as punishment, and I felt trapped within the confines of my mental disorders. I wanted change, and I began to dive in to holistic wellness.

Holistic wellness appealed to me because of the integration and stressed connection of the mind, body, and spirit. Deep down I knew these all were connected, even if at the time I didn't have the language to communicate those beliefs. I knew that I felt anxiety in my body when my brain couldn't stop overthinking. I knew that when my body hurt my mindset was worse. I knew that when one of these systems was in pain, it manifested in the others.

I started with yoga, meditation, and nutrition. I ended up feeling called to pursue more education in this field, leading me to create the major of BS Holistic Human Development, which incorporates psychology, wellness, and education based courses to understand how humans develop over time. I am now in my final semester of this major, and have diversified my wellness practices to include forest bathing, breath work, low impact work outs, and the use of medical CBD. My personal connection to spirit has grown, but still remains fluid and open-minded.

In the future, I hope to attain more wellness based education. including Reiki Certifications, Yoga certifications, and nutrition courses. All of my resources and articles are based in either personal experience (which will be noted!), reviews based on latest research, discussions on wellness hot topics, or a collection of resources on a topic for you to use. Focusing on the three pillars of wellness, the mind, the body, and the spirit, I hope that I can provide something to you that could spark self-improvement; in whatever form you may need.

Much love,

A
